A Reminder from Your Pest Control Officer
Spring is on the way, and with warmer weather and longer days comes the return of the Richardson Ground Squirrel — commonly known as gophers.
Gophers typically begin to emerge from late February to mid-March, with males appearing about two weeks before females.
Even though it may not feel like spring just yet now is the ideal time to put bait out before gophers emerge. Having bait available early—before other food sources appear—gives you the best chance to effectively reduce the population.
Baits are available through local Co-ops and other ag centres.
Please contact the RM Administrator for details and an application form for this year’s SARM Gopher Control Program.
