Please note that when some of you receive your envelopes in the mail containing your Tax Assessments, you might find a printed message inside the envelope regarding a minimum tax.
RM 102 Council is seriously thinking about implementing a minimum tax of $200. For example, suppose a person owns a small parcel of land (say…11.95 acres). The taxable assessment on that parcel is….say…$8000. At a “mil rate” of 7.95, taxes owing on the parcel would be $63.60.
With the proposed ByLaw to implement a minimum tax, the tax owning on this parcel would become $200.
